Local Economic Revitalization Tax Abatement (LERTA)

The Borough of South Williamsport, in partnership with the South Williamsport Area School District and Lycoming County, offers a Local Economic Revitalization Tax Abatement (LERTA) to qualified commercial, industrial, retail, wholesale and professional office property owners and developers who construct new or expand existing properties within the borough’s four commercial zoning districts. The LERTA program provides property tax abatement on new assessed value attributable to project improvements over a five-year timeframe. LERTA applications are available from the borough zoning officer and may be initiated at the time application is made for a zoning permit.
